Full specs here.

In its little box, you’ll find the charger, a single-piece headset and the user guides. Yeah, I know, no microUSB cable and memory card, you’ll have to buy those. At least the phone is cheap.
Its shape is very classy. Measuring 112.8 x 49.5 x 12.7 mm with a weight of 85 g, this phone is very light and compact, all made of plastic, also it feels nice and comfortable in the hand. Make sure you don’t lose it in your pocket.

The phone has a 2.4 inches resistive TFT touchscreen, with a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels. When tapping it, you’ll feel a slight vibration – haptic feedback is here. The sunlight legibility is not so good, you’ll have to keep the brightness level very high to be satisfied. But that’s not going to be a problem, is it ?
Below the screen are three controls: the call keys and a messaging button that opens a shortcut to text messaging or conversations. Beneath the three is the keyboard, with the integrated microphone. The 7 key hosts the mic-hole. Above the display is the earpiece.

The left side has a lanyard eyelet and a small opening for pulling the battery cover. On the right side, you’ll find the volume rocker and the lock key. The top houses the microUSB port, the charging socket and a 3.5 mm audio jack.
The Asha 300 runs Series 40 and has a 1Ghz single core processor with 128 MB of RAM and 256 ROM. I didn’t encounter any lag when playing around with the phone, it moves nice and smooth. The internal storage is only 140 MB, so you’ll definitely going to get a memory card if you want to fill your phone up with music, pictures, videos and games.

The call quality is good, as the voices were loud and clear for both parties and I didn’t have any signal problems either. No smart or voice dialing.

Messaging is great, you have SMS, MMS, flash and audio messages and also email. You can view your full chit-chats with the Conversation view mode. Oh, and this reminds me of the Chat app, which supports Facebook, Ovi Chat, Windows Live Messenger, Yahoo!, MySpace IM and Google Talk.
In terms of connectivity, the phone stands quite well, even if it’s lacking Wi-Fi support. It’s loaded with quad-band GSM, UMTS and HSPA (up to 10.2 Mbps download and 2 Mbps upload) and Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP and EDR.

The browser is very decent. The pages are loaded fast and look good. Even if it has support for Adobe Flash Lite 3.0, it does not support Flash.

The phone comes with a 5 megapixel fixed-focus camera that takes pictures at a maximum resolution of 2592 x 1944 pixels. You have settings for effects (sepia, grayscale, negative), white balance and some other ones that you’ll see for yourself. The image quality is pretty good, the colors look nice and bright, coming very close to the real ones behind the camera.

Next comes the video camera that shoots VGA at 15 fps and offers a decent video quality.
The music player supports MP3, WMA, WAV and AAC and has some equalizer presets there too. Very good audio quality, I was impressed.
The video player supports XviD and DivX and the image quality is okay, you’ll be pleased with it.
FM radio is also here and has RDS support.

When it comes to applications, it has the traditional ones, like the Calculator, Converter, Notes, To-Do, Voice recorder, World clock. You have a free version of the famous Angry Birds game pre-installed. Unfortunately, no document viewer or GPS support, but I hope you weren’t actually expecting to find these features on this phone. It’s not a smartphone, after all, remember? For other applications, you have access to the Nokia Store.
The device has a 1110 mAh battery that lasts without being re-charged for 2, maybe 3 days of moderate usage.

Overall, Nokia 300 Asha is a decent phone, with a classic design, made for people who don’t need a smartphone and use their phones for their actual purpose: that of making or receiving calls. Well, this phone does just fine and also comes with a powerful processor, good camera, media player and decent battery. All of these at a small price. Well, what do you say?
